The Clearing is being created as a quiet, nature-based retreat rooted in East Central Illinois. That means working with the people who grow, make, restore, teach and create here.
We are interested in thoughtful partnerships with local farms and agribusinesses, artisans, artists, wellness practitioners, conservation organizations and independent businesses whose work reflects a similar care for people, place and experience.
Rooted in this region
To us, regenerative hospitality extends beyond restoring the land. It also means strengthening local relationships, supporting regional businesses and helping guests experience the character of this place.
When someone drinks the coffee, opens a breakfast basket, wraps themselves in a blanket, uses a handmade mug or discovers a local artist during their stay, we want them to know where it came from and who made it.
Who we hope to meet
Grown and Gathered
Farmers, growers, apiaries, orchards, bakeries, coffee roasters, tea makers and other food and agricultural businesses interested in contributing to breakfast baskets, cabin provisions, seasonal offerings or The Outpost.
Made Here
Ceramicists, woodworkers, textile artists, printmakers, photographers, painters and other makers whose work could become part of the cabins, welcome gifts, guest amenities or retail collection.
Rest and Wellbeing
Massage therapists, yoga and movement instructors, herbalists, mindfulness practitioners and other qualified professionals interested in helping guests slow down, reconnect and feel restored.
Land and Learning
Naturalists, conservation organizations, native-plant experts, educators and others who can help guests better understand the prairie, wildlife, water and changing seasons of The Clearing.
Local Experiences
Restaurants, breweries, shops, recreational providers and other small businesses that can help our guests experience more of the Urbana-Champaign area during their stay.

We are intentionally small, with only eight cabins. That allows us to choose each detail carefully, tell the stories of the people behind it and build relationships that can grow naturally over time.
